Focus areas
Klaus advises companies and the public sector on sustainability, unfair competition law, and responsible contracting in international supply chains. His work is focused on developing and legally assessing GTCs by buyers, mutual codes of conduct, and greenwashing and unfair competition issues, especially in the textile and consumer goods industries.

As a senior European legal advisor to the Responsible Contracting Project, he focuses on cooperation with textile companies and industry associations.
Background
Before co-founding blue marble legal, Klaus spent almost 30 years as in-house legal counsel at C&A, where he was responsible for intellectual property, unfair competition, marketing communications, procurement, product-related legal matters and CSR. For more than a decade, he headed the company’s European Legal Center of Expertise. In this role, he advised on terms and conditions of purchase and CSR matters such as the Bangladesh Accord, the Tazreen fire, OECD complaints and arbitration under the Dutch Covenant. Most recently, he prepared C&A for compliance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG).
Klaus was admitted to the bar in 2001 and studied law and philosophy in Regensburg and Freiburg.
